Do you suffer with poor excessive air leakage in your home?

You may already know where some air leakage occurs in your home, such as an under-the-door draft, but are you aware of the less obvious gaps to properly seal your home.

BCMS can offer  a thorough and accurate measurement of air leakage in your home, by conducting a blower door test. This will  depressurizes your home, which will reveal all the locations of many leaks.

​

During the test, we will conduct a room by room survey, which will physically demonstrate the leak positions.

​

We will use touch to demonstrate this as we depressurize(suck the air in) and also use smoke sticks to target there exact positions.

​

From this we will formulate a report detailing these issues and also advise on practical fixes to your problems, or to provide to a builder as a list of works, as a qualified building surveyor.

Within the report, which will indicate

 

• the score and the current amount of free un-designed air leaving the building as a size.

• the current air changes per hour at 50 pascals.

• the current air tightness score

​

This has proved invaluable information when considering an air source heat pump as these generally require a score of 3.5 to 5 to be efficient.

​

Lowering your air tightness score can provide a large reduction in your fuel needs which helps your finances and the environment, which ever fuel you choose to use.
